How it works
Patient feedback on treatment:
Anadolu Medical Center in Istanbul (Turkey)
During the entire treatment, we felt the care, support, attention, and participation of all the clinic staff. Thanks to all this, today we have a positive result of the treatment provided.
I returned to Russia in order to conduct research there. But as it turned out, they do not make it in Kazan – there are simply no necessary devices. Therefore, after a while I came back to Anadolu for diagnostics. According to the results of the examination, the doctors found a small tumor in the prostate area and advised me to do a MR-Trus Fusion biopsy to see if it is benign or malignant. I was bribed by the fact that this procedure, unlike a standard biopsy, is performed with a thin needle, so it is less traumatic. In addition, the doctor takes the material directly from the tumor, so there is no risk that it will "miss" and the result will be incorrect, you will need to re-conduct a biopsy.
Indeed, I had a biopsy in the morning, and in the evening I was already discharged from the clinic. There was almost no pain, so I quickly recovered. But, unfortunately, the study showed that I have prostate cancer, albeit at an early stage. The doctors of Anadolu held a consultation, where they discussed my case and the most effective methods of treating the disease. I was offered two options: surgery or radiation therapy. According to the doctors, both methods are the same in terms of effectiveness and differ only in side effects, so the decision on a specific treatment method remains with me.
In the end, after weighing all the pros and cons, I decided on a surgical prostatectomy. It was carried out with the help of a da Vinci robot, with the help of several small incisions. The operation was successful, and two days later I was discharged from the clinic. Now I already feel well and I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff of the clinic from the doctor to the nurses and specialists of the international department for their professionalism and help. You can say that you saved my life! And I would like to advise all other patients, especially men, to regularly check their health in order to be able to detect the disease in time and start its treatment.
Unable to withstand such a long wait, we decided to go to the Anadolu clinic. Here, we literally had research and surgery for several days, in total, it took almost a week to do everything about everything! To be honest, we didn't even have time to understand anything – everything happened so quickly. Doctors successfully performed the operation, removing the tumor, with simultaneous endoprosthesis, although in Russia doctors planned to completely remove the arm along with the tumor!
Now my son feels well, moves his arm freely, and the latest control studies have shown that there is no trace of cancer left! Now we regret that we did not immediately go to Anadolu, having wasted so much time. We are very grateful to the doctors and all the staff of the clinic for saving my son!
Then I went to the hospital again, but the doctor just threw up her hands and recommended another course of treatment, which also did not give results. I was again sent to the FGS study, according to the results of which the doctors wrote in the conclusion "cancer is questionable". This diagnosis sounded like a sentence for me. I immediately ran to my doctor, but she reassured me that the diagnosis is not confirmed by other studies, so I need to continue treatment of the ulcer.
However, no matter what medications I was prescribed, I was getting worse every day. I lost a lot of weight-almost 20 kg in two months. I rushed to run to the doctors, I went around almost 10 doctors! But they all tried to treat me for an ulcer.
Now I regret that I did not know about the "second opinion" — that you can send your documents for consideration to other clinics to find out an alternative opinion about the diagnosis and the necessary treatment. In addition, now I understand that it was necessary to show perseverance and ensure that the doctors conducted a more thorough diagnosis, because the prescribed treatment did not help in any way. But we are used to taking doctors at their word, so I didn't even question them. Moreover, I never thought that I could have cancer.
It got to the point that I could no longer eat – I started having terrible abdominal pain and vomiting. When I was almost losing consciousness from weakness, I had another FGS, and the specialist was able to take a biopsy correctly. Malignant cells were found in the tissue samples, so I was recommended to perform an operation. Surgeons removed part of the stomach and sent the material for histological examination. It was it that finally confirmed the diagnosis – stomach cancer. And this is after 10 months of unsuccessful treatment!
I recovered in just a few weeks after the operation and returned to my usual lifestyle. But then I made a fatal mistake again. When I was discharged, the doctors recommended that I undergo chemotherapy after surgery. But when I came to the regional oncological dispensary, they told me that "chemistry" is not required. And I believed the doctors again!
About a year later, I underwent a planned ultrasound, which, to my horror, showed that I had metastases. So, I had an operation again and was again recommended to undergo chemotherapy after it. This time I have already started studying literature, communicating with different doctors and patients. Everyone said that the earlier you start chemotherapy after surgery, the better.
I decided to go to a foreign clinic for treatment and learned about Anadolu. I went through the first course of chemotherapy in clinics, and then I bought the drugs and continued treatment at home. The treatment was very difficult for me, I fell out of life for almost six months. But then it ended, and I returned to my usual life. I had a long-standing dream – to become a tour guide. Oncodiagnosis completely changed me, so I decided not to waste time, to undergo training to become a guide and lead excursions around my hometown.
In addition, if I used to depend on someone else's opinion, I thought that they would say about me, now I have the only value – myself. If earlier I could not refuse people, I fulfilled other people's requests, despite all the inconveniences, now I can safely say no if I do not need it. Like, simple things. But I had to go through two operations and twenty courses of chemotherapy to understand them! Not so long ago, I passed a control study that showed that everything is clean for me! And I hope that oncology will never come back to me again!
I really liked being in this clinic, they have a good approach to patients: they met me at the airport, brought me to the clinic, on the first day they described in detail the plan of my stay, provided an interpreter, so I did not feel a language barrier. There are various options for placement during treatment. Everything is thought out to the smallest detail.
The doctors and nurses at Anadolu are very good. Sheriff Komurju, a very nice person, became my attending physician. At the first meeting, he wished me a speedy recovery, which is not often heard in our hospitals. I really liked how the diagnostics are carried out in Anadolu — very scrupulously, for example, an ordinary ultrasound was done for me within 30 minutes.
The attending physician advised to apply here. He gave several options. After studying them a little, we stopped at Anadolu ,which is convenient in terms of flight.
Now I am in the process of treatment, so I will soon fly to Anadolu again.
While the documents were being processed, everything was fine. On arrival, they forget to meet us on the spot, because the curator, a local girl, a link, does not consider it his duty to check whether the driver with a sign from the clinic is in place.
Then the check-up, despite its loud name "exclusive package", in addition to it there are a lot of additional tests such as MRI and a deeper analysis after the initial tests.
1 translator for 3 people, runs all day between us, pushes us around the offices in order to have time to pass everything on time, there is no international department, you wait everywhere you have to, etc., etc. This is not even a service, it is a complete lack of it.
To complaints that the prices in the end are not bad for such a non-historical attitude, the curator again responds like write where you want, or even better, fuck off.
Conclusion: the clinic does not care, since there is a flow, they are mainly focused on cancer patients, and the rest - well, a conveyor, well, okay, these are your problems, gentlemen!
We had heard that our chemotherapeutic drugs were not of very good quality, so we started looking for a clinic in Europe. We heard about Anadolu from friends. A few days later, when the doctors looked at our documents, we were invited to Istanbul. It was in the middle of May.
First of all, it was necessary to confirm the diagnosis. Pavel had a difficult case — according to the results of the PET/CT scan, there was a suspicion of a malignant process, but the pain he experienced was atypical with this diagnosis, the skin color did not become more yellow, as it happens in such cases, the tumor also chose a non-standard place. The clinic reviewed the pathological materials that we brought with us from Russia, and found the presence of suspicious cells, but the number of samples was insufficient to make a diagnosis. It was decided to do a biopsy in a closed way. I had to perform three procedures — it was not easy to take the fabric. According to the results of the study, the oncology was not confirmed.
We couldn't find a place for ourselves — the days go by, they can't make a diagnosis, my husband doesn't get chemistry. Again, the shock: the doctors suggested to do the operation — again laparotomy and urgent express histological examination, when right during the operation, the tumor samples are examined. After a while, the doctor of the International Department, Guzal Keskin, called me and explained why the operation was needed, calmed me down.
Of course, we did not expect an operation, as well as such a long stay in the clinic, but after thinking about it, we agreed. During the operation, all the tests were taken not only from the pancreas, but also from the intestines and other organs. Even the radiologist was present, did an intra-abdominal ultrasound. As a result, they found everything except cancer — active inflammation in the pancreas, non-cancerous tissue and even a foreign body (suture material after a previous operation). Pavel turned 43 a week after the operation, and we believe that now he has two birthdays — the day of the operation on May 19 and the day when he was born.
Of course, as soon as we arrived, we immediately turned to the local doctor for comments, but we did not find out anything. I don't even want to think about what would have happened if we had started taking chemotherapy here?
I would like to say a big thank you to the staff of the clinic, our attending doctors — professors Koray Topgul and Kemal Rasha, thank you to Dr. Guzal Keskin for helping to understand and patiently explaining everything on the phone.
I was shocked: the tumor turned out to be a decent size-32 mm. And I found out about it by accident! I started calling a friend who works at the cancer center, she said to urgently do a CT (computed tomography). When I got to our department of oncourology, I was shocked again: patients, shuffling with slippers, walk down the corridor with T-shirt bags from Kirovsky, tubes stick out of people and go into these bags, just creepy! I go to the doctor, and he didn't even look at the CT result — he measured the tumor on the picture with a ruler and said that he had to go to surgery.
He also said that the kidney would most likely be completely removed. At the same time, the hospital is old, it has not been repaired for a hundred years, there are no separate wards, only double rooms. I told my daughter that I would not lie here. The daughter also remembered about "Anadolu". We found a representative office of the clinic, called the head — Anton Kazarin and sent the CT results. They wrote us an answer very quickly, announced the approximate amount and said that the operation would be carried out with the help of a Da Vinci robot.
I was very doubtful. Why go to Turkey if this robot is in Moscow? We also applied there, the doctors said that they would do the operation, but they could not give any guarantees, they would remove or leave the kidney-it was also unclear. And how could I trust them? By the way, such an operation is more expensive in Moscow than in Istanbul. And in our city there is also a Da Vinci, but for some reason no one works on it.
We flew to Istanbul with my daughter. The level of the hospital is completely different. We were immediately accepted in the international department, they gave us girls-translators who accompanied us everywhere and always supported us. And in general, all the staff is very pleasant, they do everything with a soul. The nurses do hard work-they help you move around, they change the linen on the bed, and beautiful nurses give medicines and monitor your condition. At night, they come into the ward every 15 minutes. Our ward was huge, and my daughter stayed there for the night.
I had a wonderful doctor — Professor Jamil Uygur, he explained everything in detail at every meeting. It was necessary to pass several more tests, do a second CT scan. They even prepared blood in case I needed an emergency transfusion during the operation.
I was very afraid of the operation itself. I was afraid of the moment when they would bring me to the operating room, I was afraid to see a robot. But they gave me a pill in the ward and then they took me out into the corridor right on the bed. There was a nice young doctor standing there, he came up to me and looked at me carefully. That's all I remember. I woke up after the operation. There were no stitches — only puncture marks. It was immediately possible to walk around the ward, and the tubes were removed the next day.
My daughter and I were really waiting for the results of histology, we were preparing for the worst, we agreed not to cry if anything. I actually had a unique operation: the tumor was removed, and my kidney was literally collected in pieces, preserved. The professor said that the histology results are good and I am completely healthy. My daughter cried first, then I did. We were so grateful to the doctor and everyone who helped us! I believe that everything was done for me here — they even cured bronchitis, with which, as it turned out, I came.
It was as if I had been to a resort where my health was restored. Even tanned while walking in the fresh air! And at the Istanbul airport, the clinic's patients are provided with a wheelchair for movement.
A month after returning to Russia, I had a CT scan again and came for a consultation with a local doctor. The doctor saw the scar, said that everything was fine. I don't want to go to hospitals anymore, even for a banal appointment. But I will recommend my clinic and doctor to everyone. By the way, there is a barber shop on the territory where a Turkish barber dyed my hair so that I can't find anything like this here!
I have the most positive impressions about the treatment at Anadolu. Everything is organized very quickly here, there are no queues. At the same time, prices are much lower than in Europe and Israel. In addition, it is very convenient that the clinic provides a free transfer from the airport and right right on its territory there is a Titanic hotel where you can stay. So I can recommend everyone to contact here for help!
On the same day, we went to the Anadolu polyclinic for an appointment at 5 p.m.
The child Dr. Mr. Namik Kemal Akpynar said that he should be hospitalized after the first examination, and our hospitalization period began at the Anadolu Medical Center. All the necessary examinations were done quickly (including an MRI in the evening).
Doctors from different departments consulted on the same night, and our treatment continued with the diagnosis of septic arthritis Sacroiliitis (although it takes some time to be sure of the diagnosis). Fortunately, we returned home after 11 days of treatment. We will be treated at home for a while.
I can't imagine what we would have experienced if we hadn't gone to ASM that evening.
Dr. Namık Kemal Bey, Pediatrics Infek. Dr. Bey, orthopedic specialist. I would like to thank all the nurses of the 4th block of the 3rd floor, nurses and cleaners. They helped us day and night for 11 days without losing their smiling faces.
I wish you the easiest and I am glad that you are doing it.
We are very pleased with our chief physician Professor Sheref Kemurju, Dr. Ali Ihsan, Dr. Gokhan Achka, Dr. Serdar Kahraman, Dr. Selchuk Gechmen, Dr. Hale Bashak Chaglar and many others who were wonderful and made us feel confident and calm.
