The Cardiology Center of the Uniklinik Dresden provides care to more than 600 thousand patients a year. This modern, advanced medical facility is a part of the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital. It combines advanced treatment methods, modern technologies and a rich experience of the staff. The center received its first patient in 1995. The Cardiology Center specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. There are five operating rooms in total. In 2013, a special department of invasive electrophysiology was launched. The multi-level concept of treatment involves the implementation of normal, intermediate and intensive therapy. Patients at this facility have access to one of the most powerful magnetic resonance imaging machines in Germany. Every year, the center's specialists perform about 2,200 heart operations, of which about 1,800 are performed using a heart-lung machine. The medical staff of the Cardiology Center has been practicing minimally invasive methods of surgical intervention on the coronary artery system since 2011. Today, the usual practice for the center is also heart transplantation for adults.
