By the standards of the UK, the Freeman Clinic is a relatively "young" medical institution: it dates back to 1977. Today it is the country's largest transplant center, known primarily for successful cardiological operations in children and complex organ transplantation operations in adults. The clinic is the training base of the University of Newcastle, and also includes one of the country's leading cancer Research Centers.
The Freeman Clinic provides medical services in the following main areas:
  • allergology;
  • treatment of bone and soft tissue tumors;
  • treatment of breast diseases;
  • gastroenterology;
  • cardiothoracic surgery;
  • children's and adult dentistry;
  • clinical genetics;
  • colorectal surgery;
  • rehabilitation;
  • emergency medical care for adults;
  • dermatology;
  • otorhinolaryngology;
  • endocrine surgery;
  • endoscopy;
  • ophthalmology;
  • gynecology;
  • hematology;
  • treatment of infectious and tropical diseases in adults;
  • neurology and neurosurgery;
  • orthopedics;
  • palliative medicine;
  • plastic and reconstructive medicine;
  • radiation therapy;
  • treatment of sarcoma;
  • urology;
  • vascular surgery.
The clinic's doctors are highly qualified specialists. The main priority of the nursing staff is a friendly attitude towards patients and visitors.
The Freeman Clinic is located in the northern part of Newcastle, opposite Paddy Freeman Park.

Patient feedback on treatment:
Freeman Clinic in Newcastle upon Tyne (United Kingdom)

I am an Indian, I was taken to Freeman Hospital for treatment of a kidney stone as a matter of urgency. All the staff were very professional and understanding. They treated me with extreme caution and made sure that I was well taken care of. Many thanks to all the hospital staff.
I am currently in Freeman on a course on lung transplant evaluation. Excellent treatment, good food, good staff, nurses and doctors were great. The results are later today, but whatever happens, our National Health Service, in my opinion, is the envy of the whole world. Thank you to Freeman Hospital, you were great.
During a long period of hospitalization here a few years ago, I received help that I could not even have expected. The nurses were merciful and professional. Dedication was above all, I saw a consultant in the department almost every day (including weekends!). The surgeons were fantastic and real experts in their field. The social support was great and kept me sane. Everything was clean, the food was not bad considering. This is a great example of how good the NHS can be if done right. It is a pity that due to financing, outsourcing contracts and consolidation of sites in other regions, the available resources (lack of beds and staff) are under strain on the available resources (lack of beds and staff). It must be a difficult job, and I have nothing but respect and admiration for everyone who works at the hospital. .
I was very impressed with all aspects of the hospital visit. The pre-surgery and the operation as a whole were excellent.
The hospital staff made me feel individually and that they really cared about me, despite some silly questions I may have asked.
Well done, Freeman! This responsible hospital should be very proud of its excellent service.
My daughter had lung surgery here, at the age of 6 weeks, she weighed less than 5 pounds, and the staff were very nice, caring and tightly bound their patients, although in some cases they panicked a little because of such a tiny baby. Her surgeon was amazing, really calmed us down and is apparently something of a rock star in the world of pediatric heart and lung surgery. The parents' room is in place, which is great for the youngest, but in pretty poor condition and can be updated (our window was broken and did not open, the heating was blocked when it was 25C outside, mold and scale in the bathroom, etc.), but the hospital itself, despite the fact that it is an old building, was completely clean. I recommend it without hesitation.
I do not know where to start, there is so much to say about this hospital,
Friendly caring staff, they understand that people feel the pain that the patient is going through, including families, should say that this is the best hospital
I will return to them to thank them for the way they treated me.

This hospital is fantastic.
I just got home from the Day Care Center at Freeman Hospital. I can't speak highly enough of every employee I've come into contact with.. I felt like I was visiting friends!
The British people should be proud to have a fantastic National Health Service like this.. I hope every other hospital in the country is just as good. I had an operation to install a peritoneal catheter for dialysis.. if someone is afraid or worried about going to the hospital.. don't be afraid!
Thanks to Freeman Hospital!
My wife was supposed to visit this wonderful hospital in June and got the best attention from everyone! This includes administrators, nurses, doctors, radiologists, and even other patients. Arriving from London, we received a very warm welcome and a very good impression of Newcastle! I just wish we had this hospital and staff next to us in East London! Thanks to all those who are not indifferent....
Most of the employees are excellent. But some are just jokes! Communication between the surgical team and the ward is terrible. Too many cooks.. etc. one minute you said it, the next minute you said it. Very bad communication. Upon arrival at the appointed time, it remained to sit for an hour and a half without any messages or confirmations. When one nurse tells you X and the other Y, it doesn't give you confidence. People left for more than ten minutes after their alarm went off. The place seems completely disorganized. This is very offensive and potentially dangerous. The nurse in my relatives' ward was rude and disrespectful! The surgeon was great. The surgeon allowed me to go home, but the staff of the department did not know about it, and it took my relative more than 4 hours to finally leave... after she had to check out! They reported that she was traveling three days ago today, but no preparations for medications were made... this is unacceptable. Freeman's hospital doesn't inspire confidence.
