The Portland Hospital in London is one of the well-known medical institutions aimed at taking care of the health of mothers and children. The main areas of the clinic are pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology. The clinic is one of the leading medical institutions that specializes in the management of pregnancy, childbirth and newborn care. About 300 specialists of the maternity department of the hospital are ready to provide round-the-clock assistance to pregnant women. For this purpose, it has 5 maternity halls, an intensive care unit, 30 wards for women in labor, 2 departments for newborns with intensive care wards for them. For those who are just preparing for motherhood, groups of preparation for childbirth and whole sports and health classes have been created to help keep themselves in shape. The Center of Pediatrics provides assistance to children from birth to 16 years of age. They help even the most difficult little patients who could not get effective treatment in other hospitals. Doctors diagnose and successfully treat both congenital and acquired diseases. The Center is working in the following areas:

  • gastroenterology;

  • neurology;

  • allergology;

  • otolaryngology;

  • endocrinology;

  • dermatology;

  • orthopedics and traumatology, including spine surgery;

  • ophthalmology;

  • urology;

  • surgery;

  • plastic surgery.

The high professionalism ofthe doctors and the use of advanced medical equipment allow both children and mothers to receive qualified assistance in any circumstances.

Patient feedback on treatment:
Portland Hospital in London (United Kingdom)

I am pleasantly surprised by the high standards of this hospital. Qualified consultants and very professional medical staff. A person always feels that he is well cared for. The rooms are comfortable and secluded. You have a private bathroom, TV, refrigerator, desk, high chairs and... a la carte room service in the room. Five stars!
I had an operation in a day hospital in this hospital. The hygiene, the care, the wake-up room, the nurses (only those who were assigned to me) were fantastic.
The only drawback is that there is no special parking space, so, as a nurse for a patient, you will have to take a chance and try to find some street parking nearby.
There is also one main building and 2 others. It takes a lot of time every time you visit, you find that this time you need to come to another building and fill out forms, pass a cvd check at the reception.
So in general, my experience of working with this hospital after you are examined or registered at the hospital is just great.
Surprisingly negative experience of working with this hospital. We were going to see a pediatrician. They offered us an initial online consultation in two weeks just to "chat about my child's medical history" (he is 2 years old, so there is nothing to chat about for 260 pounds!) followed by a personal consultation in a month, either in Reading or in Oxford. I can certainly get faster service through the NHS and am not sure what these places have to do with the Portland Hospital...
We had a baby in Portland earlier this year and it was a great experience. We were well looked after, provided with all the necessary support and care. My wife recovered very well after the cesarean section and was able to comfortably leave the hospital without support after our several nights stay.

The only drawback that left a bitter aftertaste is a gift voucher for a photo shoot. The company that launches them (imagethirst) has scandalously high prices (1100 pounds + for a photo album), and you would be much better off finding another option for this. Prices are announced only after a free photo shoot, so you will just feel that your precious newborn images are being redeemed.
For all the nurses in the children's ward, you have done your best, you are all doing a fantastic job.
I couldn't blame the care they gave my daughter (as well as me) for anything. I highly recommend it.
Any nervous parent/child will feel at home, with the care of every employee. The number of times they checked on my daughter during our stay was incredible. Explaining every little thing to us.
I want to say a big thank you to my daughter's nurse Pip, you did everything so calmly and reassuringly for her, and I am very grateful to you. Thank you very much.
We had our baby here in April and we had a great experience. Everything was perfect, and the artificial delivery went exactly according to plan. The facilities were great (nice, clean), the midwives were friendly and knowledgeable, our consultant Asma Khalil was amazing and exceeded expectations, the food was good and they gave us a nice gift at the end. They also had a section in the maternity notes for us to indicate what we wanted for our birth plan (turning lights on or off, music, using hypnotic terms like "splash” or not, etc.). I haven't seen this before and was pleasantly surprised by it! The midwife discussed it with us to make sure we had the experience we wanted and it worked well.

It's expensive, which I think is expected, but it actually cost a little less than we had planned, but I suspect it's because we had a great consultant who gave us an accurate cost estimate in advance. In addition, I was relieved that they allowed my husband to join for the entire time, despite the Covid pandemic and other hospitals limiting when and for how long partners can join. I would absolutely recommend this maternity hospital (and Professor Asma Khalil as a consultant physician).
A bad organization left to organize everything, and when you're there, no one even knows what kind of treatment you're getting, and I'm here for the 5th time, and I've spent over 60,000 pounds here, and it's getting worse and worse, they need to overcome this significantly. But it's not the fault of the nurses, it's the fault of managers and responsible people. The nurses and doctors are so kind and caring, and make sure they do everything they can to make you feel comfortable when receiving treatment 10/10
Excellent service throughout, with regular meetings with the midwife and always on hand to discuss problems/problems over the phone; this became especially important when we were approaching childbirth, being parents for the first time; there was always someone to talk to; when we came to the hospital after labor, the room was ready and we were led straight and saw the midwife to confirm the stage of labor; the midwife was present all the time during labor; excellent support and care; thank you!
Our baby had a day-long procedure there, and I couldn't be more grateful to their teams. They had a lovely person who came and showed us on the doll what was going to happen and then let them choose some toys that they brought and it really helped us to calm our baby down. After the procedure, we ordered a burger from the day's catering menu, but we couldn't find a takeaway nearby and it was much better than many pubs in the UK. I would like my hospital food to be as delicious as in my previous experience! As for Covid, I felt they were doing a lot to protect everyone
My son got a hand injury when we were vacationing in Regent's Park, and we visited this place for help. The staff was very friendly and attentive, they did a great job to make my son comfortable. We received X-rays, the fee was reasonable. The three-star review is mainly based on the fact that we were given follow-up instructions that were not really in line with the practice of the institution (we were told that we would be provided with X-rays by email for follow-up, but this is not possible).
We delivered the baby via Caesarean section at the Portland Hospital (insurance). The standard of care and assistance and facilities were exceptional. All the staff were great, especially the midwives and the nursery team. So many unnoticed heroes. We were there for three nights, and I'm not sure we could have done without them. First class, always grateful (the team is on the 1st floor of the maternity building).

Both of my boys were circumcised here as newborns (for health and hygiene reasons).

Each time I was very pleased with how it was done from start to finish. For my boys, it seemed almost painless, and in each case they healed within a week. Now it was much easier to keep them clean, since there is no foreskin there, and the result looks comfortable for both of them.

I would readily recommend this place if you are expecting a boy and plan to have him circumcised.
