Proton Therapy Center in Prague (Czech Republic)
Clinic specialization
Proton therapy center in Prague is the only center in Europe that accepts patients with almost all types of cancer. Every year it treats about 2.5 thousand people, including children.
There are 5 offices, each of which is provided with Ion Beam Application equipment:
-
1 fixed irradiation device that directs the proton beam to the desired area of the tumor;
-
3 installations with a rotating beam, allowing to irradiate the neoplasm from all sides;
-
a device that generates a very narrow beam of protons, used for the treatment of eye cancer.
Proton therapy is a modern technique that allows the doctors to destroy cancer cells with a directed beam of protons. Due to the high accuracy of irradiation, the tissues adjacent to the tumor practically do not suffer. The treatment with this method of malignant eye tumors in 95% of cases allows you to preserve your vision and reduce the risk of complications by 70%. Before starting the course, you can undergo a detailed examination at the center, which will allow the doctors to determine the location of the neoplasm and the stage of canceraccurately. This will take no more than three days. The treatment does not cause complications and side effects, so it does not require hospitalization. The preparation for the procedure takes about 20 minutes, and the radiation session itself-no more than 60. The full course of proton therapy is 2-8 weeks, depending on the diagnosis and severity of the disease.
