How it works
Patient feedback on treatment:
Royal Brompton Hospital in London (United Kingdom)
The team is very international, and that's what I really liked. I read someone's review that it meant they spoke broken English. It's funny, because everyone speaks English perfectly. They answered all my questions before the procedure and were very patient. I was also quickly examined after the procedure and well informed about its results and possible further treatment. I was even asked to stay a little longer, just to make sure that my heart was all right after catheterization, as it was beating a little strangely during the procedure. I left at the end of the day very happy with all this (despite the fact that I heard the sad news that my health is not as good as I would like) . I wish everyone the same positive rest and impressions.
I will probably have to have surgery for the rest of my life because of my condition.
Life was, to put it mildly, not easy, physically and psychologically...But I'm still here. At the moment I'm the fittest/healthiest I've ever been. I have climbed four of the highest mountains in Britain that I could never have imagined...all this is thanks to the hard and dedicated work done by Royal Brompton.
The opportunity to prolong the life of another person is a gift in itself, for which I will be eternally grateful! ❤️
I found all the care and cleanliness first class.
My son had heart surgery to correct the secondary electrical pathway.
The kindness and patience shown is above the expected standards.
I found that watching nurses, doctors, and other staff gave me confidence in how well they worked side by side with each other. Great teamwork x
We come to the appointment early and just ask the outpatient appointment WHERE my consultation will be. (The letter says you will arrive early. This is usually done for verification.)
The answer was received: "the day clinic has not started yet"
I asked if I needed preliminary consultation tests?
They're looking at the computer....
they're looking...
they can't find me.
I show the letter again.
She asks why am I here??!
I explain.
The answer "it's not here, it's on the 3rd floor"
is the answer to my original question.
We did manage to find a secret room in an anonymous corridor to register, but not quite.
Another meeting, another mess. While waiting for the meeting, I received a message about the reassignment of the meeting. The administrator confirmed that it was rescheduled. It takes 2 hours and 50 pounds to cancel a reservation that was confirmed the day before.
I was happy to wait in the narrow corridor, where there were not enough seats, and watch as other cardiac patients stood against the walls and waited.
This was fixed and I saw a great consultant whose care was exemplary.
I cannot express enough gratitude to the medical staff.
They are excellent.
Unfortunately, the worst place for a cardiology hospital and a really strange administration.
When I was waiting, one lady (*according to the staff conversation I overheard) already "dressed and went home, as she was upset”" I watched another man put on his coat and categorically stated that he could not wait any longer, as “he was still waiting for the consultant to return to him, but he had to leave for *he indicated a personal reason*," then another man told the nurse on duty that his meeting was supposed to take place at 5 pm, but he was still waiting.
When I was eventually called to the consultant, he did not even apologize for the waiting time, instead he immediately "went on the attack", repeatedly stating: “Why are you here?”he was arrogant, rude and obstructive, he continued to contradict everything I told him, as if he was trying to "catch me," he also stated that my doctor had not made a proper referral, which I do not believe in, since all the previous referrals that my doctor had made to other hospitals were very comprehensive.
He implied that I was lying about my symptoms, and also implied that I was lying about a conversation I had with my previous consultant cardiologist in Sussex (*who is a very respected and professional consultant) about repeating the angiogram and my current symptoms.
The consultant was so insulting that I told him I was embarrassed by his tone, and he replied:
“It won't work!” I answered "obviously not," packed my coat and bag and got up to leave.
Then the consultant got up to follow me and loudly remarked“ "I will write to your doctor and tell her to find you someone else, she is wasting my time!".
I asked to talk to the nursery, and the reception staff told me to go and sit in the side treatment room, as I was obviously upset, however, since it was already after 7 pm, all the nurseries left the building, the nurse on duty gave me napkins, as I was shaking and crying from the shock of the incident by then, however, then I had to leave, as she stated that I could not stay in the treatment room, as she had to return to the reception.
I left the hospital in an extremely serious condition and since then I have taken the advice of the British Heart Foundation on the helpline, and also talked to the Commission on the Quality of Medical Care. I will file an official complaint, however, seeing some other reviews here, I have little faith that even promoting an official complaint will solve the problem.
