The Charite Clinic is the oldest medical institution in Europe. Founded in 1710 by King Friedrich Wilhelm as a small plague infirmary, in a hundred years the clinic became the campus of a medical university, and began to receive not only patients, but also students within its walls. Today, Charite consists of 100 clinics and institutes located in 4 campuses (Mitte, Virchow, Berlin Buch, Benjamin Franklin) and united in 17 charite centers. Every year, the clinic receives 128 thousand visitors inpatient and almost 1 million outpatient. The multidisciplinary Charite University Clinic treats patients in almost all areas of modern medicine, but much attention is paid to the following areas:

  • pediatric and adult oncology

  • neurosurgery

  • general surgery

  • neurology

  • cardiology

  • orthopedics

About 5,000 doctors are admitted to the institutes and centers of the Charite Clinic. Many of them have academic degrees, and more than half of Germany's Nobel laureates in medicine and physiology were Charite employees. Among the most famous is Robert Koch, who discovered the pathogens of anthrax and tuberculosis. The German Organization for Quality Control of Medical Services issued the clinic an IQM certificate, confirming the qualification of the staff, the quality of equipment and medicines, as well as the high level of patient service. The German DKG community also gave its high assessment of the work of the oncology department, confirming with a certificate the compliance of cancer treatment programs with international protocols.

Patient feedback on treatment:
Charite Clinic in Berlin (Germany)

Absolutely happy. Competent doctors who have worked closely with the radiology department. After an incorrect diagnosis and improper intervention in another hospital, I finally managed to make a comprehensive diagnosis of the disease.
Comprehensive examinations and good patient management. Intervention according to the plan, successful and after that good service from the CVK station. I recommend the clinic to me without hesitation. Many thanks to the CharitèCentrum for diagnostic and interventional radiology and nuclear medicine.
The reception was unfriendly, only recommendations were given. And the wards are too small for general surgery, even the toilets in the room. Unfriendly staff is all I've met. Some of them didn't even listen to me and didn't know what I wanted. We didn't even know which of the doctors was responsible for me. And the doctors always claimed that they were more competent, but they could not do anything and did not even send the CC to other specialists. They didn't give me any other options. And that's why I went there from Saxony? In general, it was bad. I do not recommend contacting this clinic, since it is just a conveyor belt.

The best doctors in the world work in the Charite clinic! I have already had my second hip joint changed, I just walk normally and live a full life, as if nothing ever hurt.

In October 2016, my son (five years old) was operated on, he was diagnosed with Pilocytic astrocytoma of the brain, on the cerebellum. The surgeon Ulrich-Wilhelm Tomale operated. The operation went brilliantly!!! The tumor was completely removed!!! On the fourth day, the child could already walk, on the sixth day we were discharged! Just miracles. Many thanks to all the staff of the clinic: 29 stations, 35 intensive care stations and, of course, to all the doctors who performed the operation. The attitude of the staff is beyond praise. It is very important that parents can stay with the child even in the intensive care unit immediately after the operation. The child fell asleep and woke up with his parents and his toys. Thank you again!
I owe my life to Charita. Without the excellent staff, I would have just died a year ago. I am very grateful that I am still here.
Poor organization of work, rude staff. Waiting time in busy corridors is up to 2 hours. Doctors interviewing relatives and patients who are annoyed at any opinion other than theirs-the gods in white. The nursing staff is unfriendly and sometimes cheeky, there are only a few exceptions.
We are being discharged from the hospital, we will keep in touch with this doctor. The procedures are terrible, no specific therapy has been prescribed yet, there is no diagnosis, In addition to the fact that my daughter eats, has lunch, has dinner like in a normal sanatorium, they just rip off 600-700 euros per night - a lot of money when you don't see the result why stay, just pay money for the night. I'm not happy with the visit.

Good
I was treated in Charite several times. The last time was in May. The entire team of doctors and nurses is competent, friendly and absolutely patient-oriented! Nothing to complain about? everything is clean, they will help at any time without hesitation! Thank you very much again.
I do not recommend this hospital to mothers at all! Please look for another hospital! What is happening here is terrible!

We've just come from there. My mother was in the hospital in the department of endocrinology: she has diabetes with complications such as kidney failure, retinopathy, etc. About 10 days. We are a little sorry that we went. We have no complaints about the doctors and their professionalism, but the situation itself was not just disappointing, but shocking. The nurses can't get into the vein - my mother's hands were completely covered in hematomas, I had to find and show them the veins myself, since I am a medical worker myself. Finally, once again they had to call someone from the intensive care unit to cope with this simple matter. Moreover, during such manipulations, hygiene rules were not observed - I had to demand that the nurse who was sent from the intensive care unit sterilize his hands and put on gloves. No one was watching whether the patient was taking medication or not (my mother is almost blind), and I had to stay there all day and give her medication myself. But purely humanly, they are wonderful people. Attention, politeness and good manners. On the other hand, all this could be due to the acute shortage of qualified personnel that Germany is currently experiencing.
