The San Donato Hospital is a large medical center specializing in the conservative and surgical treatment of heart diseases. It actively cooperates with the University of Milan, which allows it to implement the most advanced technologies in practice. An international project on the correction of congenital heart defects in children was organized here and a generally accepted protocol for such treatment was developed.
The specialists of the center undertake operations with the highest complexity index, while the share of successful operations exceeds 90%, and the survival rate is 97%.
The most outstanding success was achieved in the treatment of:
  • Pathologies of the coronary arteries. More than 20,000 aortocoronary bypass surgeries have been successfully performed here.
  • Ischemic cardiomyopathy. More than 1,800 operations with ventricular reconstruction were performed.
  • Pathologies of the mitral valve.
  • Pathologies of the aortic valve. Here, the most Ross operations in the world have been performed – replacing the aortic valve with the patient's own pulmonary valve.
  • Aortic dissections and dilatation pathology.
  • Congenital heart diseases in children.
The outstanding cardiac surgeon Carlo Pappone, the author of the system that is used worldwide for the treatment of arrhythmias and saves thousands of lives every year, works here.
The clinic has a center for combating obesity, which practices a comprehensive approach to combating excess weight. A team consisting of psychologists, nutritionists, surgeons and other specialists selects an individual program for each patient that allows them to get rid of extra pounds effectively and as painlessly as possible.

Good day to all employees of the Department of Cardiology and arrhythmia, doctors and nurses. I think everyone that this is a great hospital, everyone is kind to patients. I have to say that with my father, you were a good team. thanks to all who voted. 1000 praises
A hospital with high-level professionals. Almost all clinical specializations are represented and function. Perhaps this is one of the reasons that booking outpatient specialists in certain departments becomes lengthy and time-consuming before a positive confirmation of admission is received. The reception staff is polite and ready to solve personal problems.
He was hospitalized for surgery with an Achilles tendon injury. I arrive before admission at 13.00, make a short visit to the orthopedist and a smear to go to the ward, I had to wait 7 hours for the smear result until 21.30. All the usual operations in the morning. After the operation without therapy, I had to call the nurse on duty several times for painkillers. The experience will not be repeated.
I went accompanied several times and noticed an effective service, there are several counters for paying for a ticket, the maximum waiting time I had (although it is always very full) is a maximum of 10 minutes. Besides, going by appointment, I always passed even earlier than expected, and there was never a crowd in the waiting rooms! The staff is kind, the atmosphere is very spacious, neat, clean, colorful and welcoming, but above all, IT's GOOD TO BE WELL. The only thing that didn't satisfy me at all was the outdoor parking, it's not paid, and it's fantastic, because where I live, they are also shamefully expensive, but the problem is that the asphalt is all broken, it's like a roller coaster how bad the road is and when it rains, it's a unique pool with water. In general, I would like to give him a 5-star rating for the efficiency of service in the institution and doctors.
Surgery to remove kidney stones 3 months ago.
Excellent urologists. However, it is a pity that at the end of the operation, when someone took the tube out of my throat, I felt a very strong pain that helped me cough all night, causing severe abdominal pain. The sore throat lasted for almost 3 days. I have undergone several operations under general anesthesia, and this is the first time this has happened to me. They should be more careful. As for the nurses in the ward, they were all very kind, especially Federico, whom I called many times at night to relieve severe sore throat and stomach.
MRI of the spine.
Upon request, I submitted a carefully compiled report on the examination conducted a year and a half ago, and as a result they shortened it, saying that there were no significant changes compared to the previous one.
Considering that I have undergone 5 operations on the spine, that I have undergone stabilization of the lumbar vertebrae and that in recent months I have moments not only of very severe pain, but also of short-term paralysis of the legs, I do not know whether hernias and protrusions have increased at this moment and whether the screws and plates are located correctly.
I will no longer perform MRI in this hospital and I advise everyone who needs it not to bring a report on the previous examination in order to force the radiologist to make a complete objective report.
The structure is perfect, doctors are professionals and know how to talk to us, patients, before and after surgery, explaining what happened. Congratulations to the staff of the guard service for the attention rendered. The rehabilitation period is going great. The most striking aspect is how nurses and operating services know how to take care of us patients with gentleness and firmness to make the stay a moment of contact and relaxation. I recommend that, in addition to a focused and successful intervention, you will live peacefully in some aspects of the hospital that are not taken for granted. I thank all those who conveyed humanity during these days of stay in the wards.
My father was hospitalized for elective heart surgery. The operation went well, but in the postoperative period he contracted COVID infection, probably in the context of one (or several) outbreaks in the hospital. From there, chaos begins. They decide to discharge him, despite the risk of sending home an elderly patient with a positive covid 10 days after a major operation. After 10 days, they organize a smear with the end of COVID isolation, but the result cannot be viewed on the online portal if the patient is not a Pawnshop (!!), they do not send it by email, let alone paper. On the phone to get a result, it's a lost war: disconnected, non-existent numbers, automatic messages that send you back to nowhere. I spent days trying to contact the laboratory, the switchboard, departments, even the URP and the Health Department: no one, not even SOMEONE who answers the phone. I am a hospital doctor and I understand the difficulties of the current moment, but no hospital in 2020 can afford such a low level of organization. I will be forced to stop isolating my father even in the absence of a tampon, but I am left with the bitter realization that a regional health system based on such hospitals will never be able to guarantee us a way out of this pandemic.
I find it absurd that there is no direct number of the cardiology department's help desk, but there is only a switchboard on which the only thing that can be said is "doctors will call you." My mother was operated on this morning and 12 hours later, although doctors should inform you about the patient's postoperative conditions, no one showed up, no one reported a positive result of the operation.
I believe that seriousness and professionalism can also be seen in small things, and this is a little lacking, I understand that they can be very busy during the day, but informing relatives and the duty of a doctor, or perhaps even just an act of politeness, are currently absent.
I came to the hospital for my mother, who has a lot of heart problems. This place inspires confidence! The best doctors in Europe! I am very calm because here I know that he is in good hands. Seriousness, politeness, professionalism in the department. We are really happy. Extreme confidence!
