The University Hospital of Zurich is the largest medical center in Europe with a rich history. It was here that the largest discoveries in the field of transplantology and neurosurgery were made, the first heart transplant operation in Switzerland was performed, Nobel laureates in the field of medicine worked.
Today it is a multidisciplinary institution where all areas of medical science are represented. But especially popular among foreign patients are the following:
  • Cardiology. It was in this clinic that the vessel balloning was performed for the first time. Today, surgical and conservative treatment of all diseases of the cardiovascular system is successfully carried out here. New methods of treatment of heart attack, atherosclerosis and angina are being actively studied.
  • Neurosurgery. The best specialists of the country work here, who successfully apply craniotomy in consciousness and stereotactic surgery for the treatment of cancerous tumors of the brain and spinal cord.
  • Dermatology. The department treats all types of skin cancer, autoimmune diseases and solves the problems of poor wound healing.
  • Plastic and reconstructive surgery. The clinic's doctors perform both aesthetic and reconstructive operations. Special attention is paid to the regeneration of the skin after burn injuries.
  • Gynecology. All diseases of the female reproductive system are successfully treated here. Patients with cancerous tumors are undergoing minimally invasive robotic operations in combination with conservative treatment.
The diagnostic laboratory at the Department of Immunology is accredited by SAS.
Foreign patients in the hospital live in comfortable wards equipped with everything necessary.

Patient feedback on treatment:
University Hospital of Zurich (Switzerland)

We publish only real reviews
I visited this university clinic during my stay in Zurich due to urgent digestive problems.
Very kind nurses and doctors. This did all the necessary examination, and all emergency treatment was covered by my European health insurance. They help me a lot, advise the right treatment and prescribe medications. No long wait, well-organized staff, clean hospitals. I really recommend everyone to visit Zurich.
My experience in the emergency department was really very good. I had to wait only a few minutes. The doctor did his best to find out what was wrong with me. After I left, the doctor even called me to tell me about the treatment, not related to my emergency, but to what had arisen during our conversation. I really felt like I was being taken care of.
Leading doctors are competent. However, the administrative system is terrible and obviously has no control and supervision. Arrogant secretaries who have no medical education feel entitled to block access to doctors, in fact, randomly prioritize cases and eventually postpone treatment for no reason. I strongly advise the heads of various clinics to check what their secretaries are doing, because after they have faced the same problem in several clinics, it becomes clear that this is an endemic and dangerous disease from which USZ suffers.
I have just gathered some experience with the University of Zurich. First of all, I must say that I cannot make a rating based on the doctors' prescriptions and the results of operations, but personally I still consider them to be among the best in the world. The bad reviews about my current doctor at the moment are very poor time management, which led to me spending an hour waiting. I would also personally prefer to talk to the doctor who walks you through the operating room and tell you what he is doing while you only have local anesthetics. The staff, most of them are nice, but sometimes they are busy with something. I think I've seen about 50 or more printed labels with my name on them. I still have some with me. I'm just asking myself why. I also have to complain about one employee who treated me like a child. Really bad. She was talking in front of me with one employee who said she hadn't eaten since 8 o'clock. I was a customer who was not allowed to eat for more than 16 hours. Maybe that's why she treated me unprofessionally. And one of the huge prohibitions is the visible place on the head that they operated on, the children had such a thing as plaster, and, fortunately, it was a day of traveling around Zurich, and I hope that I didn't scare anyone. I would like them to do a more respectful job on their work, which would not affect the public, but also me
I had an operation to remove my appendix at the university. I am very grateful and satisfied with my choice in this hospital. The staff is very polite, humane and professional. Doctors carry out all necessary examinations and treat patients seriously. Thank you for everything.
I am eternally grateful to all the medical staff for everything they have done and continue to do so that my husband recovers as soon as possible. Kindness, accessibility, humanity and competence! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I felt comfortable in both cases. I was treated very well and always included as best as possible. The doctors and nursing staff are always friendly, spoke about me and sympathized with me. During both stays in the shock room, a crown test was performed. A thousand times better than in a German hospital. Many thanks for everything, especially to the IMC team, you will always be in my heart.
I have been to the university Hospital countless times, at least ten times in emergencies due to accidents, as well as for clarification, treatment and operations. I was very pleased with the result: from a medical point of view, everything was always at the highest level. (And after all, that's what a hospital is!)

I would only rate it negatively: the long wait in an emergency and the food in the ward is so good that you want to recover quickly and want to go home!
I am delighted with the hospital! The level of equipment is simply mind-blowing!
The staff is friendly, qualified, attentive. Doctors explain and tell everything to the patient at all stages.
The convenience and comfort of being in this medical institution shocked me to the depths of my soul. One bed with an adjustable bed is worth what)))
Medicine in Switzerland is at a high stage of development, and prices are high accordingly. But in my opinion, if the question is about life and health, it is better to give preference to a better option, even if it turns out to be more expensive.
And again! The food is just super! Like in a restaurant, you'll just lick your fingers!
What good is all the "diversity and knowledge" that exists in this hospital if they treat their patients so coldly and unfriendly? I decided to have a baby at Unispital because I heard about their excellent reputation and experience.

Despite the fact that my husband had a terrible experience in the emergency department last year, I decided to go against my intuition and give Unispital a second chance.

Unfortunately, from the first day I realized that I was just a number in this place. I've been through everything from administrators yelling at me on the phone to being told I'm not a priority (3 times during my 4-day hospital stay), and let's not forget the doctors and midwives who are too busy to explain anything to you easily and kindly.

My stay in this hospital was extremely traumatic in what should have been a happy and exciting time. From a medical point of view, they did everything right, of course, but they didn't care about me as a patient and how I feel.

In the end, I decided not to give birth to my child in this place. Surely they won't even notice my absence. I don't recommend coming here for anything. What a terrible place.
