Patient feedback on treatment:
San Joan de Deu Children's Hospital in Barcelona (Spain)

We publish only real reviews
If I could turn back time, I would never have taken my child to this hospital. We have been observing them for almost 2 years. I was told that this is the best hospital for children. That the best specialists work there. But Alas, everything turned out to be wrong, in our case... we are visiting an eye doctor. From the very beginning, the diagnosis was not correctly made. We lived and did not grieve until we found out that the child has absolutely not what we were told about. We were assigned to make a diagnosis on a special. a device that is made for young children under mask anesthesia. Hungry, we arrived at 8.30 am for a planned visit, they received us around 13.00. The first time I asked what was going on and why it took so long around 11 am. Neither our doctor nor the nurse considered it necessary to explain to their patients why such a delay. Only when I had a fight with them in the reception, saying that I would write a complaint, only then did they bother to say what the reason was. Imagine a one-year-old hungry child on this day! and you will not wish the enemy! Another important point is that on this day, when the child was under anesthesia, they took his blood for genetic analysis and did not even tell us about it! We found out about it a few weeks later.
You may ask how are the scheduled visits to the doctor? In our case, you wait 3.5 hours, or even more, and watch the child for 5 minutes. The doctor communicates with the interns, he will tell you two sentences fluently and that's it. No recommendations, no advice, no explanations. I had to read on the Internet and look for other paid doctors to explain what this or that word means in the informe sheet.
For them, a small patient is "un numero mas". These doctors and all the medical staff forget one thing! They work there at the expense of these children, they receive very good salaries. From our taxes. Why so much indifference on their part?
My mistake is that I did not change this hospital for another one. the words that supposedly the best specialists work there were spinning in my head. By entrusting my child to them, I brought his eyes to a critical state.
I will give advice to all mothers - listen not to others, but to your mother's heart!
One of the best hospitals for children in Europe. There is a maternity hospital, gynecology, examinations, ambulance, specialists. Everything is at the highest level, but you have to wait a very long time. Responsive staff, comfortable rooms. Wards for one or two people, the ward has a bathroom, you can take a shower, there is a wardrobe, a table. The beds are comfortable, adjustable. There is a TV. The food is delicious. The hospital is located on a mountain and from the entrance there is a stunning view of Barcelona. There is a cafeteria-restaurant, very beautiful, the menu is about 10 euros. There are machines where you can buy water, sandwiches, sweets, juices, as well as tea and coffee. There is Wi-Fi, called público.
Definitely one of the best hospitals in the world. Everything is at a high professional level. My sister has a rather complex disease associated with the circulatory system - portal hypertension, with all the ensuing consequences: an increase in the veins of the esophagus and stomach, an increase in the spleen, internal bleeding. She has already had two operations in this hospital and her condition is improving. To all those who leave negative reviews here, I want to say: you have never been to hospitals in the countries of the former Soviet Union... When a bleeding child waits for the arrival of a doctor for more than three days, nurses call children and mothers the last words and shove a syringe into a vein, as if they are cutting a pig, while demanding a considerable amount of money ( despite the fact that medicine is free). If you don't have money, then you or your child will just be left to die and no one will even come up... I'm not saying that there are no good doctors in these countries, they certainly are some of the best, but the truth of life makes them think only about filling their purse, they forget about the Hippocratic oath they took and their hearts are covered with ice and become indifferent. So I want to say only one thing: be glad that you live where you and your children can receive adequate and high-level medical care and pray for the health and longevity of these excellent specialist doctors who work here. Because everything is known in comparison. I wish all the doctors and employees of the San Joan De Deu Hospital health and longevity. Thank you very much for being there!
A very long reception! We sat for 4 hours, waiting in line with a 5-year-old child with a temperature of 40.5.
I am very grateful that we have such a hospital. I have visited other hospitals in other countries, and there is nothing to compare it with. I believe that people should value what they have more, because they do not have such hospitals and services in other countries or cities.
May God grant health to all the staff who save lives!
Good conditions. At night, unbearable queues in the emergency department.
The waiting time in the emergency department is very long.
My 20-day-old son arrived with pus in his navel, and they made us wait for more than 4 hours.
They should significantly improve this aspect.
The best hospital.
They saved my first child from death when he was a week old. Heart problems. Now my son is 12 years old.
A week ago, my second child returned to the hospital.
Excellent, very good treatment.

Many thanks to everyone who helped me ....
One of the best children's hospitals in the world. Unsurpassed treatment of people. Very young medical staff, very qualified doctors and the most modern" devices " of surgery, diagnostics, rehabilitation, etc.
I am waiting for the day of the operation, but so far all the tests and other things have been carried out in a warm and very friendly atmosphere, in principle, I am satisfied with the professionals. Thank you and cheers.
I would like to highlight the kindness, professionalism and sympathy of all the hospital staff.
In particular, I would like to thank the entire team of Dr. Sarkella. You are great people and professionals.
Children's Hospital of international level in the field of healthcare and research.
Overall, the staff is super-friendly.
Wonderful efforts and imagination to make the hospital a pleasant place for the youngest: various decorations, slides for descending on the floor in polyclinics, pallapups, volunteers with dogs, a CT office designed like a real spaceship ... .
I have been many times and I can't get a bad word from this hospital.
Having this in Barcelona is a real luxury.

Good
The staff is very polite and sympathetic. They operated on my daughter for scoliosis, and the treatment both before the operation, in the intensive care unit and at the factory was excellent. The wards are very nice and very clean.
My daughter has been in this hospital for several years, and as for specialists and external consultations, everything is fine. The treatment is friendly, And the facilities are very pleasant for children, making a visit to the doctor a good experience for children. Another story is in the emergency room... endless queues; it is clear that the one who arrives in a more serious condition passes first, but children can not understand that they have to wait 3 or 4 hours, especially if they feel bad
A wonderful experience of childbirth thanks to the midwives of San Joan de Deu. You are the best!! Thank you very much
Today they operated on my son, everything was fine, the hospital is beautiful, there are details in every corner that make it interesting and fun for the youngest, I went into the operating room and there was a favorite drawing of the child, everyone was very friendly, Dr. Martin He explained everything about anesthesia and was always very attentive, and nurse Naomi was with us after the operation and took good care of us. Thank you all for the wonderful work, treatment and warmth that you have given us.
